All I hope is that they don't take the cage guides out of this one.

Robinson's looks odd without them. It also shows clearly how they work, rather than giving people the impression that stuff just swings around in there like old fashioned kibbles.

However, if they preserve it properly, that's a good thing.

Hopefully all the stuff not reqd by Crofty could be preserved in situ or at least stored / given away to a museum (KEM?)

I just hope that they take some expert and localy informed advice before proceeding with the work. It makes me jittery when I see titles such as "Portfolio holder for localism, sustainability, devolution and heritage" taking center stage.....
I guess we'll just have to wait, although I've written my suspicions down and have them in a sealed envelope for comparison later. 😢

read "Cameron's nominee for imposing government by unelected, unaccountable beaurocrats from Brussels".

I'm consistently amazed by the extent to which the Celtic fringe allow themselves to be provoked into spasms of unthinking quasi-nationalism and reflexive anti-English ranting by these sinister figures....

Quote:

Stephen Rushworth, Cornwall Council's portfolio holder for economy and regeneration, said: "It marks the start of the regeneration aspirations for South Crofty and will contribute to the wider regeneration and employment opportunities around the Camborne, Pool and Redruth area."

John Pollard, the council's portfolio holder for localism, sustainability, devolution and heritage, said: "It has been a longstanding ambition that this local landmark is conserved and maintained.

These two might have silly titles, but they are actually democratically elected local councillors.

Why the comments about "unelected, unaccountable beaurocrats from Brussels" - or am I missing something?

I have come to the conclusion (backed up by bitty, but extensive reading) that this financial crisis is the resolution of something which has been building up since WWII. We are at a T junction where there is a left choice and a right choice. Going on as normal and "returning to growth" are pretty much impossible, all things considered.

So, right turn = small state, nationalism, less state services, etc, etc. (bear in mind a lot of tax paying individuals/companies - not the PAYE plebs will have gone offshore) and a pretty nasty level of inequality. Think pre-industrial revolution, but worse as there are a lot more people.

Left turn = Mandelson's Post Democratic Era. Dictatorship by a political class. Better achieved on a different scale to that of the previous nation. This is our EU business.

When you consider all of the main issues (which are not allowed to be discussed) they all seem to add weight to the Left turn at the T junction.

We will never be allowed a say on the EU, because we will make the wrong choice, however, look at Scottish devolution and note that Scotland are a sole European area. They get to be Scotland, regardless of what happens, whilst England is split into regions. How nice of them! Look at immigration and look how these people vote. All adds up to the country making the right choice.

Sadly, you as someone who has something are about to get comprehensively raped in the name of "fairness" and ensuring the continued rule of the political class as a dictatorship (or as Mandelson labels "post democratic era").

I am very full on Cornish. In fact, I am 1/8th Irish (that's the mad bit) but most certainly 100%, I will not allow myself to be thrown the bone of Cornish nationalism to hide the fact that Britain is being dismantled in the name of "making the right choice" at this inevitable and unavoidable junction many don't realise we are at.

What is interesting is how this is playing out across Europe with the inevitable consequence of nationalist hardline politics. (per usual for these type crises). How this transition to the "post democratic era" will take place will be one of the most interesting parts of future history.

It will probably read a bit like Animal Farm. (did all the other animals slaughter the pigs in the end? I like to think they did)

Anyway, as long as the headgear is grey and there aren't too many sculptures around, all will probably be well. West Cornwall never paid any tax anyway!

the animals didn't slaughter the pigs at the end of Animal Farm

I get around a fair bit and one thing which has been increasingly obvious in the past decade or so, is the fanning by government sources of "Celtic-ism", for want of a better term.

Twenty-odd years ago no-one had ever heard of the Welsh or Cornish kilts, for example.

"Localism" is the key word. This is the process by which the EU is introduced directly into English governance at a local level, bypassing Westminster entirely. Tony Blair never, ever described himself as English, despite his posing as one; he was and is, an Edinburgh Scot. Interestingly enough David Cameron follows the same course; you will seek in vain for any instance of this most English of men so describing himself.

Speaking as someone with an informed, professional opinion on where oil is and isn't to be found, I'm curious to see what happens to the Scots when they have served their turn and Brussels no longer feels the need to indulge them. They don't appear to think that Brussels hasn't costed every removeable item North of Carslisle, and I don't understand why they think this. I'd suggest they look across the Irish Sea, and think on...

Well, in the name of awful imperial dominance and freedom for the people, just in the way the Scots are going to have a say in their independence, perhaps it would be "fair" (in the libdem sense) to allow the Shetlanders to have a say over whether they feel "Scottish" and whether they want independence. (I gather that if the oil was anyone's, it would be theirs). What's that? Money involved? Sorry, no independence for you.

Talking of independence, it's high time we stopped throwing £45m a day into the Peoples Projekt of the EUSSR and told Brussels to well and truly ****** off. In fact, let's nuke it just to be sure! :guns:

it's also embarassingly obvious to the semi-detached observer that unthinking nationalist ranting is being deliberately encouraged as a distraction to unemployment.

The Welsh love to rant about how hard done by they were to have slate and coal mining, but it's as nothing compared to their sense of grievance at not having them.

However I'm sure that "well and truly rogered by Brussels" will prove to be the same in Welsh, Gaelic or Cornish...

Say what you like about the EU and its predecessors but we've not had a war in mainland Europe for over fifty years which must be a record. Without a common purpose we're as bad as a sack full of Arabs.

After mutually assured destruction, its probably the most successful peace initiative there's ever been.

There may have been no war, but the amount of misery going on NOW in the PIIGS is probably much in excess of that.

I have no problem with a "European Union". It is the Statist Controlling, unelected EUSSR which really grinds my gears!

Reality check time. I'd rather be poor than have a war.
