Hey all,
I was looking at Wherry mine in the database, then went to check out Mounts Bay Consols, and it appears the location pin on the google map is about 4km to the east in Chyandour instead of to the right of the mount 😉

IANCC,
I would say around this point: SW 52622 30498, from the point of view of the photographs. Again I'm not sure though...

Bearing in mind that Wherry Mine and Mounts Bay Consols are distictly different mines. Mounts Bay Consols is just east of Marazion.
Wherry on Goggle needs to be closer to Newlyn.
poke around long enough and you'll find something..

Wherry needs tweaking.
Not sure why there is a MBC 'a' and MBC 'b'. In Hamilon Jenkin there is areference to a possible Penzance Consols around the Harbour but Mounts Bay Consols is distinctly desribed as being east of Marazion - hence my field work photos under Mounts Bay Consols.
Still room for further research but MBC and Wherry are not the same.
poke around long enough and you'll find something..

I'm going on wheal's fieldwork. Not so sure about 'a' and 'b' to be honest.
This mine: Mount Bay Consols Sl Mixed Mine
;)
Not being funny, but it has seemed to disappear from the database. Any ideas?

Ian, Forget about the a and b prefixes, I added these when compiling my DB as I had two different locations given, I have now deleted both of them. My plan was to find the proper one and then delete the other.
N.B.
There is now only one MBC and its produce is Tin 🙂 ...Mixed!.....I ask you!
ERK! One more edit; Sl in the title was an OCR error on My original DB. I've just edited the DB and removed this but the Sl still seems to want to prevail...hiss spit :curse:

Recently spotted one of Gutch's photos on St Michael's Mount in which you can see Mounts Bay Consols & what looks like tip spreading out on to the beach, probably early 1850's - not really the sort of mine you would ever expect to see a photo it was working. Reproduction not very clear.

Can someone 'fix' whatever needs to be done with the East Pool album so that it no longer reads as "Pool East".
I think it looks a nonsense, and am sure most others will agree.
EDIT
And the upper case
My avatar is a poor likeness.

The photo is in a book of Gutch's photos published in the last year or so. Book not know to hand so don't have the title/author, but will put it up in due course unless anyone steps in before hand.
