It's 23 years since I last did the through trip in Conniston Copper Mines after meeting some Cumbria Amenity Trusst members who sold me the first few volumes of their journal which contained the rigging guide for the trip and many other good articles. I seem to recall hearing a few years ago that some of the false floors had collapsed but that alternative routes had been rigged. Please can anyone bring me up to date with current access and the state of the through trip belays, route changes, new rope lenths required, etc? I hope to be in the Lake District in mid May and fancy repeating the through trip. Hope someone can help. If necessary pm me. Many thanks!

The through trip is still open...but....being a weekly visitor to the Copper Mines I would currently advise against a trip due to the fact a substantial section of false floor has collapsed in the 'Arete' chamber where the trip begins also the hand line is in dire need of replacement(more so with recent movements) and is in poor condition.... only advice as the bolting is fine on the pitch heads.
Drop me a pm if you would like more info. 🙂

Well, you didn't die
In all seriousness it should be avoided, the collapse is recent and more is likely to collapse; the whole area is on false floor that is in pretty poor condition really...

Pretty much my only aim in most trips.
