We're managing a few days in North Wales next week - anybody got any suggestions for mine/quarry/steam trips bearing in mind that my wife is limited in mobility but she does have an electric trolley with a fair 'cross-country' ability. Are there any notable disabled-friendly places we could consider? All suggestions gratefully received. Thanks.

You could try round loggerheads - there's lots of lead mine remains to be seen round there, although i'm not too sure how much you can see from the larger paths.

The Welsh Highland and Ffestiniog Railways are geared up for wheelchairs, but check out their websites for more detailed information.
The National Slate Museum, Llanberis (and its environs) is on the level and again wheelchair friendly.

The Llanberis Lake Railway ajoining the Welsh Slate Museum is also wheelchair friendly.

There have recently been some new wide gravelled paths laid on the popular 'Precipice Walk' at Dolgellau.
Its not mining but spectacular views. There is courtesy parking at the end of the minor road directly opposite the toll bridge on the Barmouth road.
A steep ascent by vehicle, (presumably yours is adapted for wheelchair), and when the road forks take the right fork through a gate.
Courtesy parking at the very end, and follow the path.

EDIT
When you get your vehicle through the gate, a few yards on you will find somewhere to pull off the road to the left.
Follow that direction for about 50 yards, you may get the wheelchair there, and you will see something very interesting. Trust me.

Not an expert of where the line is drawn for wheelchair friendly.

But from memory the route around Parys Mountain (or failing that, to the Great Opencast viewpoint) may be possible.
Been injured while at work and are not to blame?

Get over it.

Disclaimer: Mine exploring can be quite dangerous, but then again it can be alright, it all depends on the weather. Please read the proper disclaimer.
