Stuey/Roy and all.

Looking back through GPC minutes I think you might find that they don't actually know about this and I would suggest that a written statement/request for help to them might set the local government wheels turning to the benefit of the heritage we would like to preserve. At the very least they could involve the heritage guys on Cornwall Council. Or if you don't want to then send me the report and I will do it.

Write to the clerk.

I was there today (sunday) and it looks like the bottom end of the site (the cul-de-sac end) has been taken over by Cornwall Cullet, and WW No2 shaft is under several tons of assorted glass and other sh1t. Viz.

I was there yesterday too. Roy on your GE picture it looks like WW2 is just before a small square building on the right or alternatively about level with one of scrappy's building with a square black thing behind it. Since I can't see the small square buiding on the left in your picture its reasonable to assume that it is behind the lorry in your picture. This might suggest that WW2 is still there. Needs a closer inspection. I think there is access by crossing onto the unused ground at the right of the entrance to united industrial park. Going over a large ditch. I will try to check it out.

Save yourself the trouble, I went over to take a look at that part of the site and it's stitched up tight....No entry.
Looking throught he fence I could see no sign of WW No1 Shaft and now believe that it has been covered /destroyed.
Grinding of teeth!!! :curse:

For laws to be enforced ....Somebody in power has to give a damn.......

somebody seals a shaft ....most of the great unwashed would see this as a public service ๐Ÿ˜

All it requires a report to the Environment Agency or Cornwall Council ( under its new unitary guise)

There was a degree of fuss made where a quite detailed report was circulated to several bodies. (Natural Ingerland, the Bat Enthusiasts and several others). There has been no feedback at all from any of these. The Bat People looking like they had the most hopeful case out of all of them.

The points were as follows.

Bat access has been hampered.
Connected workings have had their ventilation compromised, resulting in less habitats.
The shaft was essential egress and ventilation to the flooded WMD. (This is on the CCC minerals plan as a strategic shaft)

Other points were the unique geology/mineralogy of the place and the proximity to UD with it's historical significance. The latter amounting to F all importance.

It's a shame, as I gather WW was an interesting hole as well as being one of cornwall's classic trips, even though it was fairly flooded.

I gather the general synopsis is that the council couldn't really give a toss. Having said, I would possibly want to avoid any confrontation with an angry gypo hillbilly......

(Assuming there is one whom is in control of that site).

I gather from the owner of a very near site that the owner in question is not actually under direct control, or perhaps responsible for the obliteration of the site. I have no idea who owns the bit of ground. Nor is there an accurate designation of the piece of land to run past land registry.

Anyway, I shall tap up "the man" and see what I can find out.

Disclaimer: Mine exploring can be quite dangerous, but then again it can be alright, it all depends on the weather. Please read the proper disclaimer.
