As it's a wet day I thought that I would move the push pin for Riccall mine into its correct location of 638371 but I'm failing to find a means of editing the location of a mine with an existing entry. Can someone enlighten me?

I've moved it to that grid ref Neil. Not sure if anybody can do that or just admins.

Thanks Rich

Gascoigne Wood could also do with moving to 528319.

Does it take a while to update?
Riccall is still showing on the wrong side of the A19.

SimonRL will have to answer that! Its certainly in the correct place on the Streetmap link at the right of the page as is Gasgoigne Wood. Not sure why it isn't on the main map, even after refreshing the screen.

Anything to do with this, Streetmap using OS prime meridian but Google using GPS prime meridian?

Edit: Thinking about it, probably not.

Should update instantly :)

The NGR is only approx., it's a 6 figure value. If you want to get the location precise select the sheet then enter the 6 figure NGR, this will move the pushpin on the map to the NGR value, then move the pushpin around until it's precise and click the 'update' button at the bottom of the page.

The actual mine location is shown from the lat/long, not the NGR, the NGR is just for info.

@NeilR - sorry it wasn't clear that you couldn't update the mine yourself. Anybody can update mines they've added themselves but only regional editors or admins can update other peoples' mines...

This is to prevent anybody malicious signing up and wrecking the data. Unlikely, but entirely possible given the nature of the internet :(

If you want the regional editor attribute adding to your account so you can manage mine records in your neck of the woods please just say 🙂

The mine is in the right place on the edit mine page now but its still showing as being in Riccall itself on the Google map - over 2km away. Don't know whether the Google map can be made more accurate than that?

Both Google and the OS map (UK only) go off lat/long. So if it's showing correctly on the mine page it should show correctly on the map page. Might need to refresh/reload the map a few times in case it's an odd caching issue?

I think I've got it in the correct place now. And it's the same on the map page and the mine page.

Yeah did that with no effect. Its now showing in the right place since you've been into the mine however so all is good in the end!

Disclaimer: Mine exploring can be quite dangerous, but then again it can be alright, it all depends on the weather. Please read the proper disclaimer.
