Had a run out to Notts today and called in at Bestwood and Clipstone to see how things are shaping up on the way home.
BestwoodAt Bestwood the ugly grey pointed fencing is gone and the whole site now generally tidied up with new fencing and landscaping around the engine house. The headgear and engine house have been cleaned and restored to a very high standard  . The engine house now looks fabulous but not overdone 🙂 . In order to run the engine a return pulley has been fitted a few feet below ground in the old shaft and a dummy cage built above, this means that the engine can now run on demonstration days. ClipstoneAt Clipstone the whole area around the headgears is now landscaped, grassed and dead flat, it now at least looks tidy. This has really emphasised how massive these structures are and I decided to try and get a few pics from a distance to emphasise this, lets hope that the campaign to save them works out.
