Evening all,

I've done this a little backwards, I've posted another thread before introducing myself!

Anyway, I'm local to Camborne and recently graduated from CSM, being a local lad I've been thoroughly interested in all things mining related since I was a nipper. I've been down a few mines locally and very keen to get in a few more, I also spent a period of time working in an U/G gold mine in Western Aus which was an amazing experience, and have visited a couple of mines in the states also, all obviously very different to our local mines which started it all! I love having a good chat about anything mining so would love to hear stories from anyone who has the time to tell me!

I've lurked around on the forums (under another username which I cant access any more) for quite some time, never had a need to post as I'd found the answers to any question I had by searching. I love reading the stories you all post so please keep it up.

Anyway, I just wanted to say hi and introduce myself a little!

Hello Rob, I poke around mines for work and pleasure.

I'm always up for showing more people around and yapping about history/records or abseiling down holes and crawling up adits.

My particular interest is correlating what is left with historical records, both physical remains and mineralogical remains.

What did you study at CSM and do you have a job yet?

Hi Drillbilly, how lucky you are to be able to nose around Cornish mines as part of your job!

Your interests are very similar to my own, fascinated by all things mining and love a good stope!

I graduated from the Mining Engineering course last summer, had a job to go to but it fell on its arse when the bottom fell out of the gold market. I was going to return to the company I was working for before. Currently looking around for work but have been slightly sidetracked as I wasn't very well for a little while after graduating. However have started looking again now.

What is it you do if you don't mind me asking? I'm assuming something drill related, do you complete drilling investigations?

Nothing up with a bit of libertarianism.

Whilst I am an employee, I'd rather not talk too directly about what I do, just incase someone gets upset. Some "company men" take things very very very seriously.

Hillbilly + Drill = Drillbilly.

It would be good to come and drop it. We need about 4 people with the same approach to it. Personally, I need to just show up, chuck a strip of carpet over the side and drop it. I lose my bottle if I look at something too much. It really is a massive hole! The Snozzle boys have a habit of hanging around with the superduper rope access team who simply cannot rig a shaft in a user friendly manner.

I would use a decent length of protector, a lot of the collar is built up earth with bit's of glass and crap in it and I'm not sure how stable that is in the light of all this wet weight increasing liquid we have had of late, would it be possible to do a mid point drop?

Welcome,

Great to see more local explorers,

As you know this is a great place full of all the information you will ever need, full of friendly helpful people.

I'm also out a lot pleasure wise, exploring mostly above level but always up for climbing through adits and down shafts

I can clearly say since joining this forum I've never looked back and always looking for the next place to explore

Welcome again

Disclaimer: Mine exploring can be quite dangerous, but then again it can be alright, it all depends on the weather. Please read the proper disclaimer.
