Hi
I own a helmet mounted Petzl Duo.
The contacts in the bottom of the battery pack have developed a bit of rust on them...
Any ideas on how to remove said rust?
Are the contacts removable?
They're a pain to get to.
Any ideas greaty appreciated.

Cheers!

I've use a glass fibre pencil for that sort of thing in the past. Obtainable from Maplins among others. Prevention, you could tin the contacts with solder or use a contact cleaner/lubricant on them. Mainly make sure they're dry after use. Store it in a tin with that silica gel you get in some packages.

Dry out the silica gel between uses by microwaving it. The moisture absorbing capacity of a single little sachet is very modest so ensure that the battery case is completely dry before putting it in storage. Once used, the silica gel needs regenerating (i.e. drying out) before using again otherwise it will do noting at all to dry the case out - and might even release miosture!

They ARE a right pain but you can get them out 😉 and scrub them and, as suggested previously, tin them with solder. Also put a drop of silicone grease on the rubber seal when you replace the battery. If beyond repair let me know. I have spare parts and probably a complete battery box.
