:flowers: can anyone help me i have recently found out my grandad worked at clipstone colliery in 1928-1931 and lived at colliery cottages and church road i would love to be able to have a photograph of where they lived and maybe any photos of the pit in those days please can anyone tell me where i could find out if any exist

I remember working on a tunnel job in Mansfield at the time of the closure. I was only there a couple of weeks, doing some 'agency' surveying until the site staff came available from other projects, but I remember the steady flow of miners looking for work at the gates, and being turned away because their skills weren't relevant.

another story at the time was of a fatal accident in the last weeks of working caused ( I believe ) by over-cutting of pillars
and failure of the roof-bolting which was the main support remaining
''the stopes soared beyond the range of our caplamps' - David Bick...... How times change .... oh, I don't know, I've still got a lamp like that.

thanks iclock they lived at 27 colliery bungalows 1929/30 then moved to 77 church road which is where my dad was born
they then moved back to nottingham but we cannot find out why are there any books or websites i could go to to see the pit as it was and where the houses would have been x
