(On the subject of 'fires', I've been through a few Trustfire 18650s, which have been okay; and the Cytak ones seem to be relatively reliable so far.)

If you have a reliable source, and they have "real" trustfires, that's all good. Most "fires" out there range from crap to downright dangerous, certainly anything your average person is likely to come across in small quantities.

I now have *some* of the cells on hand. They are Samsung ICR18650-28A's.

This means that they are 2800mAH, and so far, every single one has measured a decent voltage. Please note though, that these cells have a higher charging/termination voltage of 4.3v (Nominal 3.75v). You can use a standard 4.2v charger, but you will not get full capacity.

I also have a stock of Solder tabs and 3x1 18650 holders. The holders interlock to make a sturdy basis for pack making.

Preference will be given to those who have already expressed interest. The price for the cells is £5 per pair+Postage. The cheapest I can find is from FastTech in the Far East at £7.14 with mandatory express shipping.

I need to figure out delivery first, as there are regulations with Li-Ion cells. Royal Mail is not happening due to a blanket ban. As soon as I know, I will post here.

All tags will be removed, but you will need to clean up the remains of the spot-welds. These are flat topped cells, so you will need to be creative to make them work in flashlights.

Apologies to all.

After getting the cells, voltage testing revealed them to be too low for me to be happy selling, or even giving away, despite being assured that the voltages were fine by my supplier. As such, I am withdrawing these cells from sale. Thankfully, no-one has paid anything yet, so no messy refunds to deal with. The supplier accepts they are not fit for purpose and is taking them back. I suspect they will shortly be appearing in Ultrafire wrappers on an far east site near you soon. :lol:

Most of you know the dangers of these cells when not treated correctly, so I hope you understand why I have taken this decision.

Again, sorry for the let down, but the last thing I want is someone's pack having a "moment" because the cells were questionable. Should anything happen, it's on my head, and I will not let that happen.

If it's any consolation, I have feelers out for more of these, so should I get some (with acceptable voltages this time), I'll let everyone know.

I have some Eagletacs and they are OK, but nowhere near the stated capacity. As for that guide Roy, I bought some Torchy batteries based on that and they turned out to be awful. The plating on the caps quickly started to flake off leading to a very intermittent connection. The only ones that have been consistently great are made by AW.

A lot of 'name' brand 18650s are Sanyo underneath rebranded and fitted with protection circuits. The Sanyo cells are supplied OEM (outward end manufacturer) and are rebranbed for retail sale.
