Had a look for you on the accident data base .http://www.cmhrc.co.uk/site/home/
& nothing listed that fits I'm afraid.

Thanks for the quick reply and the link its some where I have not been yet.

I have the Sentinel report on the accident so I know it actually happened.

But I was hoping to find out some more.
It seems the death of Adolphus Archer is not in accident book.
The iterest for me is that it states he was one of four brothers that worked at the mine.

Very curious, I'd love to see a copy of the Sentinel report if you can post it.
Incidentily my road is named after the pit - I wanted to name the house "Old Sal" but her in doors had other ideas!
Cheers
Nigel

No, sorry Gorden but I think only the person whos personal album it is, can see it.
To post it so others can see it you need to cut the URL from the properties of the picture & paste it between the "Img" tags that are at the top of the field that you use when posting.
Hope this makes sense!

I hope you don't mind but there seems to be a slight problem.

The past is a foreign country: they do things differently there.

Thanks Gordon (& Carnkie) What a way to go, though at least it was quick I suppose.
I wonder why it was not in the pit records or the achive.
Somewhere there must be an inquest report & HMI report.

I agree and these are what I would like to trace but do not know how to atrat as yet. Also would like to find an obitiary if possible. But most important are the three other Brothers. These are unknown to me brothers of my Father? and i would dearly like to know thier names. I doubt if any are still alive but I think Adolphus was the oldest.

The inquest will almost certainly have been reported in the Sentinel & it will, no doubt be benificial to have a look in back copies of the Colliery Guardian for '47 & '48 - these should have more detail but not sure where their archive is held.
