Been in Cambrian, Glyn Ceriog today, did some cleaning and found myself singing this.

Little arrows on the ceiling, little arrows on the walls.
If I catch you spraying arrows, I kick you in the *****

If you come in with a spray can, it proves that you know nought
Follow the flow of water, it always takes you out.

(Chorus)

You could be in some trouble though, if the mine is dry.
But looking for the daylight, is always worth a try

(Chorus)

A straight drive from the portal, with daylight still in sight
A bloody silly arrow, pointing to the light.

Just about sums it up.

Leapy Lee;
There's a boy a little boy
Shooting arrows in the blue
And he's aiming them at someone
But the question is at who.… ;D;D
if eight out of ten cats all prefer Whiskas
Do the other two prefer Lesley Judd ?

And a dead Kennedys signature to boot

Roy, that's a great song but I'd be a liar if I claimed an arrow or two hasn't helped me out in the past

I used little cards with them on at one time and picked them up on the way out.
Cambrian had 3 lots in different colours, plus a name and a date early in this May. I left this as a possible PACE confession!

My last visit in some stone mines their was a large group of around 30 people leaving cards on their route we visited the following week and the cards was still their had to collect them all up , same mine they was spraying arrows in it even on original mine graffiti , even putting arrows on original cranes inside some people really don’t care

Yes, its mass lockdown breaking, they had nowhere else to go.
Cwmystwyth Lefel Fawr had a couple, now removed. One was just inside the steel road within sight of daylight.

Cambrian always attracts these. Ease of access.

That said, I usually have a wire brush with me when I visit here for that very reason. They'll be back by years end.

I've even found them in a single adit mine. One passage and only one way out with a steel ladder.

Found a load in Caplecleugh once, along with the words “Deep water”.
Let’s be honest, Caplecleugh is fairly hard to get lost in, certainly up until you arrive at Toilet Box, and... If people need arrows on the walls to negotiate Caplecleugh, it’s probably not the ideal place to be exploring...

Roy has not mentioned the famous "Roy brand " cleaning liquid - which is Bitter Lemon juice ( and a wire brush) - works well on limestone I believe.

Correct, but at Glyn Ceriog the slate was that poor graffiti would remove with an air brush, never mind a wire brush.

The bitter lemon solution works well because you just take a big mouthful and then blast it out. I think it the citric acid and dissolved CO2 (carbonic acid) that does it.
Wonder what it does to my guts!
I drink enough of it. But be useful to future archaeologists to date my digs from the sell by date on the empty bottles.

Agreed. The slate is a bit squishy in comparison to Blaenau stuff people may be used to, and why none of us want to hang around under entrance chambers, there's a tendancy for roof to become floor without much warning.
