A quick heads up for Monday evening on BBC1 at 7.30pm......

"The Yorkshire Dales" visits Swaledale, and I believe I saw the red hatch for St Francis in the trailer ?? There was also mention of the history of lead mining in the area. I noticed it wasn't on BBC1 HD, so I'm not sure if it's a regional programme ??

I wondered if this was related to the failed attempt of a BBC crew trying to get to St Francis engine house due to bad air ??

Definitely worth a watch for one of the most beautiful areas in the country 🙂

Up on iPlayer now. Mining bit starts just after 10 minutes in, and it is indeed the trip halted for "bad air".

Not entirely sure a relentlessly enthusiastic and cheerful presenter is appropriate for Yorkshire though. Unremittingly dour might be better.

Although brief, I enjoyed the snippet on St Francis. Haven't seen the level from that perspective.

Looks like they were very close to the engine room when the alarm went off, but they still seemed to get some film of it ?? Wonder if some of the team, or "guides", kept going ?? It would have been great to get some high quality, well lit footage of the engine room before it all comes tumbling down :(

Anyone on here part of the group and can elaborate ??

Disclaimer: Mine exploring can be quite dangerous, but then again it can be alright, it all depends on the weather. Please read the proper disclaimer.
