Double Standards?
As reported in the Cambrian caving Council newsletter:

CCW Installation at Clogwyn
Countryside Council for Wales (CCW) have installed 3 pairs of eye bolts, some steps and a small gather platform outside Ogof Clogwyn to aid access to this cave.

Yes, and at the Temple Mine in mid Wales they have also installed pointless fencing, grills over the upper adits, and a pointless gate over the bottom adit.

I know, lets start calling it "Temple Cave", maybe if it catches on they will lay a gravel path for us.

I find this amazing! I used to take groups of youngsters into Ogof Clogwyn when I worked for an outdoor adventure centre in the mid-70s. I remember the main entrance as being a slightly awkward climb of about 4' from the ground (the awkwardness was because it overhung slightly) but nothing that would have needed that sort of modification. What's more, there is an alternative entrance in the form of a crawl that I used to send the kids in, and getting back down from the main entrance was quite straightforward.

Hmmm... how long before someone tells Moose & co that they have to install a lift in Titan so that it's accessible, I wonder? Mind you I can imagine the response "Aye, that's fine lad, but we'll have to find a big empty space to test it in first, like the inside of your head"

Having seen an item about this in Descent it makes (slightly) more sense ...

It seems the wooden steps have been constructed on the path to the cave (not at the actual cave entrance) because of severe erosion of the slope.

For those who don't know the area, the Cydach Gorge is a steep-sided wooded valley with a fast-flowing river at the bottom. Ogof Clogwyn is a popular place to take outdoor pursuits groups - and apparently there has been one fatality in the gorge (though not in the cave as I understand it).
