Thought a thread to throw some ideas around for Thursday Nighters was in order. In the absence of any "thinking sessions" aka pub...

From the last list:

Llanberis Copper Mine
Ceunant - man up and do the bottom bottom level
Aberglaslyn
Rhiw Penmachno
Hafod Boeth - and the general area

Summer stuff - mixed above/below ground:

Betws Garmon iron mine
Prince of Wales
Princess of Wales
Sygun - stopes high on hillside
Dorothea - including a bit of boating

Plus of course Blober's list ;)

How about a walk up to the wheel at Cwm Ciprwth ? Is there much else to se around there?

What about a look at the inclines at Penmaenmawr ?

Any of those suitable?

I'd be up for the Betws Garmon, and any copper mines when I go down there next, sometime in June. Me and Blober also had an idea for a wed night trip to Parys, and if anyone is interested in checking out manganese surface and underground workings over towards Harllech then that could be interesting

Did you ever get round to looking at the deep adit level at Catherine & Jane Consols Simon? Seems like a perfect short sharp midweek trip...

Yes, but no worse than some places you've been & you can get there internally I think. We looked at the shaft a few years back whilst looking at the rest of the mine but didn't drop it for some reason (insufficient kit?). Think there's a survey somewhere. A few of your Thursday bods haven't been at all I think. A good trip!

couple of UCET guys were in there yesterday. There are two shafts you can abseil down apparently, so that horrible looking hole can be avoided!

I wouldn't mind a visit to gorseddau quarry at some point.
There's Brynfelin Copper Mine
Tons of small stuff that needs looking at in the Croesor valley including parc quarry if anyone has any info on that?

Will add more as I think of it

Hi Blober. We can do "your place" this Thursday if you like, then something slatey the following week when you Canadian friend is over? Might be the better way of doing it as she doesn't SRT?
Feel free to post it up if you want to do it that way around?

Pont y Pandy mill near Gorseddau is good for a quick look, i went there once but not the quarry. You can only drive as far as the house on the western side of Cwmystradllyn reservoir, then its a walk along the tramway to the quarry past the wall, i want to do that myself.

I was there once and the DCWW gate was open with no lock, had been for weeks apparently. The old Focus being FWD flew up the track, but I don't think the current car would get as far.
Its a nice walk anyway, and you can take a look at the "ghost village" (Treforus) on the way?

Post up a trip to "your new place" and we'll do that. Even if that "turns out crap" at least there are other places in the vicinity to fall back on?

Over to you!

I'm in 🙂 And I'll turn up this week. That which has distracted me the last few weeks won't distract me this week. If that makes any sense 😉

Gets my vote.

I second the suggestion of Catherine & Jane for one Thursday.
And let's not forget a return to upper Bwlch y Plwm with a maypole - preferably after a dry spell.
& Hafod Uchaf when Pingu's back.

Must dash, Llanrug Brass Band practice is calling! Living the dream....
