I'm sure all will be well, I have some accomodation booked, there is a lecture programme, I have heard talk of beer being ordered and I'm sure we'll get underground at some point.

I'm always impressed that anyone takes on the task of organising these events in a field where it often seems participants regard turning up on the right day with both left and right wellies of the same size as almost OCD type behaviour.

Well done chaps

If I come by myself, I will camp at the campsite within walking distance. If I bring my good lady, we will stay at the Aberystwyth Ritz Carlton.

Bryncarnedd is already mentioned on the website but there are some poor reviews, so i will be checking it out and reporting back.
Its only £6 a night and walking distance from the Uny but I need to confirm that there is enough room for everyone, and see if they can get toilets cleaned and all showers OK for the event.
I will come back on this after I have talked to the campsite people. Its traditional for NAMHO for a specific site to be recommended so that everyone is together, Roy will fix this.

Right, underground trips.
I will get ready a complete listing based on the assumption that all required permissions will be obtained, but with some interesting substitutes in the event that they are not. My idea is that people will be able to then go ahead and book. If the booked trip is cancelled, then the substitute will be of the same technical level.

Commments anyone?

Sounds good to me, I've already booked a room at the Uni but if the campsite is within walking distance it makes sense.

Being able to book onto trips would be good, it's pretty normal for there to be slight question marks over one or two trips isn't it?

Both suggestions very good. I look forward to the results.
It is Bryncarnedd that I am considering; I have seen the reviews, but it can't have less facilities than the field at the Wealden NAMHO! (it could be muddier though)

LATEST UNDERGROUND
NAMHO 2013 Underground Program
Coordinated by Roy Fellows, Cambrian Mines Trust

SPECIAL NOTE
Some permissions are yet to be obtained so trips may be substituted as the need arises up to the date of the event. Substitutes will be of similar technicalities and interest to the original, as near as possible.

Friday 28th June
I will be leading 2 events on the Friday. There will be a combined surface and underground at Goginan followed by a surface walk around y Wern at Talybont
The drive from Goginan to Talybont is only a short one with directions supplied. My thinking is that delegates will be arriving at different times on the Friday and doing things this way will enable everyone to fit in something on that day. Plus these arrangements will not involve anyone getting plastered in gloop and needing serious clean up before the evening.

14.20 Goginan. Meet and park at SN 690816 pulling off the road as much as possible.
Full details to be published later. Surface walk plus short underground into Taylors Incline and the 26 fthm level where an ongoing WMS digging project can be seen.
Overalls and wellies only needed.

17.00 Meet at Talybont Village Green.
Parking difficult so you will have to scout around
http://www.aditnow.co.uk/mines/Alltycrib-Mixed-Mine/
Archive Album
There is also opportunity to examine 2 Pelton turbines used to generate electricity, but not connected with mining.

Saturday 28th June and Sunday 19th June

Mines of Nant-y-moch. Full day event with options of morning, afternoon, or both, mainly for the benefit of those who don’t do deep water.
Meet at NGR SN 763885 Plenty parking around here.

Morning. 10.30
Henfwlch, (Easy, knee deep wade) Knee deep wading at entrance gives way to dry level. Inner reaches gained by concrete stepped inclined winze. Attractions include a perfect example of an ore barrow, tallow candles, and miners clog prints.
Afternoon. 14.00
Brynyrafr
1/ (Moderate) A short easy trip requiring a hand line scramble to view a large stope;
2/ (Technical: Very wet) A very wet but short easy trip exploring an extensive trial working with a few artifacts.
Camdwrbach. (Technical: Very wet, short handline scramble)
A narrow entry point into upper chest deep water gives way to more sociable workings. There are many interesting features, including a large stope and exploratory passages with black cave pearls.

There is also opportunity for a surface walks around Eaglebrook close by at SN 7359892 and Esgir Hir and Esgair Fraith accessible from a dirt road at SN723909. Mines at SN733992 and SN 739991

Monday 20th June 2013
Cwmystwyth.
Several all day events including Level Fawr easy and SRT trips and easy walk in trips are planned. However this will be subject to access being arranged.

It is appreciated that a full underground program is usually available in the January period, however this year we are running late. To this end I shall try to provide trips in a quantity that means everyone will get onto what they wish rather than any first come, first served situation.

The camp site is expecting 20 to 30 but there is room in the field for a lot more. I am feeling a lot more optimistic about this being a good NAMHO. There are 'things' starting to happen in the background which I cant post on a public website....yet.
If you are at the meeting this Saturday i may have something interesting to say.

Really looking forward to NAMHO again this year. Is there a mechanism to book the underground trips yet, or do we book them when we arrive? We've booked our accommodation, etc, so definitely coming.

Thanks.

Due to circumstances beyond my control I cant really finalise everything at this time but intention is to try and ensure that everyone gets on the trips they want if it means switching leaders or adding extra trips. Obviously, I wont know booking levels until the date.

FINAL UNDERGROUND PROGRAM

Goginan and y Wern at Talybont

Friday 28th June

I will be leading 2 events on the Friday. There will be a combined surface and underground at Goginan followed by a surface walk around y Wern at Talybont

The drive from Goginan to Talybont is only a short one with directions supplied. My thinking is that delegates will be arriving at different times on the Friday and doing things this way will enable everyone to fit in something on that day. Plus these arrangements will not involve anyone getting plastered in gloop and needing serious clean up before the evening.

14.30 Goginan. Meet and park at SN 690816 pulling off the road as much as possible.

Surface walk plus short underground into Taylors Incline and the 26 fthm level where an ongoing WMS digging project can be seen

Taylors Incline is an easy walk in, at the bottom it goes into water but the bases of the haulage system can still be seen. The 26 fathom is a bit of a scramble over fall material getting in, but afterwards is easy walking. The level varies from dray to a few inches of water. I am not putting a limit on numbers as trips underground will be of short duration and I can rove the site gathering people together. Taylors can be in and out a leisure but the 26 fathom will be conducted in small parties. Its passes through an underground quarry of spacious dimensions, the level ends in an ongoing dig which may be the subject of interest and possibly some mirth

Overalls and wellies only needed.

Allow about half and hour to get to Talybont by driving along the A44 Aberystwyth road, and right turn at a small island and following the signposts to Machynlleth. Its two rights, dead easy.

17.00 Meet at Talybont Village Green.

Parking difficult so you will have to scout around
