Last time I achieved this was 2007 in the Tamar.

The Tamar Mining Group crowd are planning on attending. That said we are hanging fire regarding booking until things firm themselves up a bit more.

Having organised a NAMHO conference (2007) it looks like things are being left very late.

The planning of underground trips is progressing with leaders now being appointed.
Most trips will run over the Saturday and Sunday both morning and afternoon.

Roy does that mean there are no visits programmed for the friday or monday?

I'm still waiting to see the lecture and surface programmes before commiting and suggest that is the case with a quite a few who want see the programme of events and not just the the underground in isolation

There is my tour of y Wern on Friday evening and I expect that I can take a trip earlier as well.
Someone else or maybe more may be willing to do an earlier Friday as well.
Dont forget that its all provisional at this stage.

Monday, yes I have a 'special' in mind, but cant give details as yet as it depends on permissions being obtained.

I have been assured by Peter C that the all is in hand for the surface trips, but this is beyond my personal remit.

As far as the underground goes in general, you can put your trust in RF.

As someone who likes to do a mix of underground and lectures it would be nice to see a (non provisional) programme covering lectures, surface & UG trips.

The lecture programme for the NAMHO conference in Aberystwyth, 28 June - 1 July, is now on the web site at www.namhoconference.org.uk - go to Programme page and there is a link allowing you to download the lecture programme as a PDF.

I think I must be having a funny turn as I can't see the link anywhere on the Programme page at all. Can you point me in the right direction - where should I look on the page?

Thanks.

OK, so I might be being a bit thick here......

I plan to do some of the underground trips, but I can't see a way to indicate which trips pique my interest on the booking form?

Do I just tick underground and sort it out when I am there?

I certainly seems to be that way. Sadly I cannot make it but a few other from our group should be able to attend. I reckon you just opt for underground and enough places will magically materialise on the trips you want :-)

It seems to be a lot slacker this year than previous years in that the website wasn't up on the 1st Jan and the trips are a bit nebulous. Maybe its because its run by laid-back academics - speaking as an ex-academic related person :-)

Since Roy and other in WMS are involved I suspect it will turn out fine...

Posting on behalf of Peter Claughton in response to Emma in Surrey's post:

NAMHO 2013

Sometimes, and it appears to be related to the settings in your browser, the www.namhoconference.org.uk link does not take you directly to the conference web site (it works for me in Chrome but not in Firefox) but there is a link if you follow the instructions in the error message.

We will tweek the programme page this week to make the lecture programme more prominent and the field / underground programmes should be up there shortly.

In the meantime, get your bookings in to Catherine Mills [email protected] - if only to give me some idea of how much beer we should order. You can book by e-mail if you use PayPal to send payment - contact Catherine for details. Once registered you can book your field / underground trips when the details are published.

Peter (for the organising group)

my orders are to sit here and watch the world go by

Most of you out there are 'in the know' about what is going on. There is nothing on the Internet about this because that is the the way that I want it, and you are all being wonderful about keeping one of the biggest open secrets of mining related matters off the web.
This is one factor that makes this NAMHO meet different to the rest, I could lie awake at night worring about the timescale but this would do no good at all.

The other factor of course is that this year was originally planned for somewhere else, when this fell through someone had to came up with a 'plan B' and this is where Peter Claughton stepped in.
The underground meets program will have to remain provisional at this time. In the event that nothing is finalised for 'you know what' in the near future then I will finalise the underground program without it, and then have to slip something in at the last minute. This is the best i can do.
To make matters worse there are some issues regarding permissions on other trips.
All this is beyond my control.

Can anyone remember the Cornwall NAMHO when half the trips were cancelled.
I dont think it will be quite that bad, and yet the Cornwall NAMHO was still a success. Success being defined as everyone having a good time and going away happy. I certainly was.

Roy this is incorrect it happened last year 2012 when nenthead fell through and DCC stepped and offered Alderley Edge. This year has been in planning for some 2 years the problem being that WMS refused to support and left the organiser looking for help elsewhere

This year is a shambles as the bookings system and the MAMHO conference website was refused and they chose the academic route. A lecture programme is now up but I had troubles downloading it Firefox and ME 8.

There is no surface programme, they may be a coach trip and there is some possible underground trips. There are no descriptions in terms of limit of numbers, ability required, meeting times length of time on trip to work around lecture programme. Yes we know the big secret but everything else could have specifics.

Oh and I have been one of the organisers on at least 3 coonferences in recent years so I'm speaking from experience

Is there a site within staggering distance?
