hi Peter,
Interesting photos, takes me back a few years!
When we went down in the 70's the loco stuff had all been scrapped- at least we did not see any of them.
The Consolidated Gold Fields, drive was also a no, no.
The air in it was so poor.
Did you manage to go down it?
For the record, Mike Luff & myself decided to see if the escape route via the Swinhope Horse level was acessible.
We tried it and emerged at its, entrance and returned across the Moor, to rejoin the rest of the party.

We travelled about 800 yards down the crosscut before turning back - the air was poor! We were using carbide lamps and carrying a candle. Turned back when the matches wouldn't strike and the candle went out. Surveyed the mine from the horse level entrance to the incline and part way to the west, but never got to the end, wherever it may be.
The loco is at Ayle.
