Just got my December copy of the IMMM magazine. There is an advert in it for the Mine Manager's job at Caphouse.

Quite a coincidence that Big Pit and Caphouse are both seeking mines managers at the same time.

Interesting to see that Caphouse, just like Big Pit, state that they require a Class 1 certificate.

They require class one tickets as they are still classed as working mines. All the sections of mining law still apply. The salary is decent too, I would think at a museum like these there are more health and safety concerns than a normal mine due to the fact that the public are allowed to wonder around many on the places unsupervised.

Both places are class A coal mines therefore they are required to have fully qualified managers, even if they are museums now.

Are you sure you are not thinking of Unity opposite who went into administration week before last?
Roberts the manager is still there in name as the administrators are looking for 60m of investment.

Any chance of a link or pointer to where it shows the present situation.

beg your pardon,
the website states surface mine operations were idled, not underground, my mistake.

Easy mistake, that link above is either out of date,or purposely confusing,

As of last month, they were working coal with CM`s,but the main drift has`nt moved since the bulk of men were layed off last year,

Not sure how many employed there now,but around 60 possibly.

Disclaimer: Mine exploring can be quite dangerous, but then again it can be alright, it all depends on the weather. Please read the proper disclaimer.
