Has anyone been to the Islip/Slipton Mines lately. Are they still blocked? It seems to have gone very quiet in this area!

Perhaps for the best? The 1001 ongoing threads on various forums at anyone time can't have helped matters...

That's the ONLY reason they were sealed, the area is still very sensitive and will stay that way. The sooner threads like this vanish the better (yes I know I'm perpetuating it but just read between the lines...)

This is definitely a no go area at present. A quote from an E-mail received from the estate reads....

"I would be grateful if you could please advise any other people you may know of that have frequented the mines in the past, that they will be sealed with immediate effect, and that anyone trespassing on the Estate will be dealt with severely. Especially if they are in the vicinity of any of the mine entrances."

Enough said!

Absolutely.
I've anonymised the thread so the location concerned shouldn't be too obvious now.

Mind you a bloke with an avatar just like yours is one of the main suspects for filling the web with pictures of the places in question. His claim that he was keeping the names secret really didn't work at all as it was always blatantly obvious where the places in question really were...

Ho hum.

You are hardly in a position to level criticism when you have 150 albums of named locations (with pictures) in your profile and the site you moderate for has a publicly searchable database containing a vast amount UK mines.

Not criticising, just a comment re people living in glass houses. I don't doubt that I'm as guilty as the next person of all sort of things..

Well perhaps 150 location without no current access issues......

If you think all the photos (or discussion threads) on this location need taking out of the public eye then let us know and the moderators can discuss it.

But we can't do anything to put the cat back in the bag with the posts all over 28DL.

Disclaimer: Mine exploring can be quite dangerous, but then again it can be alright, it all depends on the weather. Please read the proper disclaimer.
