I watched it last night.

Shocking how much the coppers were being payed, one of them said he bought a flat, new(er) sports car, set of golf clubs and 3 holidays with what he made 😠

Paid highly, billeted in uncomfortable conditions miles from home - all aimed at maintaining tension (fewer problems with Police local to miners but Maggie did not want that).
I was stopped at a road block on a motorway slip road (for what?) and I saw the convoys of police minbuses at night heading for the pit where trouble would arise the next day.
Someone I thought to be an unreliable source at the time told me about a Policeman arriving home in his civvies - when the family said "we thought you were at work" his answer was "I was". That was the day when "Miners" started throwing missiles at the police. The same person told me that Miner's (personal) bank accounts had been frozen over the weekend that Union funds were sequestrated. Not such an unreliable source at all.
I later met someone who had worked at a large hospital A&E department at the time of the Miner's Strike - and said how many Miners were admitted with wounds to the back of the head.
I knew a Union official who always made a point of saying "hello" to Special Branch when he picked his 'phone up.
More stories and information have come to light over the years since the strike - I wonder how much more will yet?

Could it happen today, what with mobile phones/cameras, ubiquitous camcorders, Twitter, etc etc. G20 riots last year showed that public dissemination of images cannot be ignored. Miners' strike footage is more or less limited to the stuff the press were allowed to shoot.
