Three of us spent a week underground in Deep Ecton in 1979; partly as a sponsored event for university 'Rag Week' and also to allow me to map the underground geology. We took a tent and campled in the main engine chamber. It was difficult to keep track of night and day so we used a Tilly Lamp as the Sun during the daytime.

I think that was our biggest mistake, never camping in a tent.

Only about 6 hours for me, when Peter persuaded us to spend some time shovelling spoil back into an old dig. We got a good trip out of it too though

This has left me wondering how many of us mine explorers go on multi-day underground trips? I certainly never have, although obviously it's pretty common in the caving world.

Most of the trips I've had to Nent (looking at you Colonel!) have emerged from a day in neck deep water to a blizzard. Probably character forming

Perhaps it depends on how easy it is to find your way out. đŸ™‚
