I've just spotted this on Ebay: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/1751-VERY-RARE-DETAILED-MINING-ACCOUNT-BIRKET-MINE_W0QQitemZ260425378219QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_Collectables_Paper_RL?hash=item3ca28fe9ab&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=65%3A12|66%3A2|39%3A1|72%3A1684|240%3A1318|301%3A1|293%3A1|294%3A50  which is a page of reckoning from 1751 for a Birket Grove. There's a Birkett Common mine listed on the database in the North Pennines, one and the same perhaps?

It's a bit too much for me to bid on given it's not my local patch....
Follow the horses, Johnny my laddie, follow the horses canny lad-oh!

Disclaimer: Mine exploring can be quite dangerous, but then again it can be alright, it all depends on the weather. Please read the proper disclaimer.
