These three fascinating picture compilations show the Cornwall Rail Road, that served the massive opencast iron mines in Pennsylvania. Some of the engines look like amazing bits of kit. A few woodburners in there too I imagine. Imagine how hard it would be to keep one of them stoked up with timber, and keep a good head of steam, whilst towing a full load of cars up some pretty steep looking inclines.
