A general plea to anybody adding mines to the database.

Can you check before adding a mine that it doesn't already exist in the database please?

There are a lot of duplicate mines appearing, UK and foreign, and we're now seeing photographs appearing in both where duplicates exist.

The easiest way to check if a mine appears is to do a name search, put the name (or part of the name) into the Mine Name Search which appears on every page below the navigation menu in the left hand column. You don't have to enter the full name (in the above example Rhiw would fine Rhiw Bach and several others) and if you're not 100% sure of the spelling check the 'sounds like' option.

As soon as I can get a clear day I'll write an admin module to move photos between duplicates, but until that is done the photos will need to stay split across duplicate entries.

Longer term I'll re-write the 'add a mine' function to check for duplicates and alert.

Please note, this is just a general comment hopefully to prevent more duplicates appearing, it is certainly not intended to be aimed at any specific person or people so please don't read it as such. If you've inadvertantly added some duplicates don't worry about it and once the image moving module is finished we'll sort out moving images across.
my orders are to sit here and watch the world go by

Disclaimer: Mine exploring can be quite dangerous, but then again it can be alright, it all depends on the weather. Please read the proper disclaimer.
