I have just attempted to put an exterior link in a mine entry just made using the url facility and nowt happened. Is this anything to do with Firefox?

There was no link tag at all in there. I've entered a dummy link now (to the BBC web site) so you could either:

- Remove it and put the correct link in, type it (in full http:// format) then select the whole link (click hold and drag) and click the URL botton

- Or just edit the link between the URL /URL tags

Hope that helps

Doesn't appear to Simon. Hope I'm not being thick here but none of the buttons, b,i,u or url appear to work. Obviously they do as you have shown. I've put the address in but can't get the url tag to work. I tried putting it in manually with bizarre results.

'Fraid I had similar results with 'Old Ham' in FoD a few days ago. (Firefox 3 on Linux Mint 5 if it's relevant.). Things work as expected on this page but not the 'adding/updating mines' page.

Oh dear, it'll be a Firefox issue then, I'll have to add it to the list of site fixes / updates, that I'm afraid will now not take place until next year.

You can of course type the tags in (bit of a pain I know).

That feature doesn't work in firefox or opera, not much hassle just to type in the tags though.

Does it work in the forum post a message page? If it does then it's specific to the mine page rather than with the script itself. Ta.

PS. What's Opera 😉 Thought that browser had been decently buried at midnight

Yes both work ok in the forum if you, click url, paste the link, and then click url again.

I like playing with the widgets in Opera 😞

Thanks, does it work if you select the whole link (like applying bold in a word processor for example) and then click the URL button? Or do you have to do the click, type, click process?

Please don't tell me how the site looks in Opera  In the early days of CSS I rather liked it, but went off it quite quickly 😉

I've just realised why I was having problems with the manual insertion. I was missing out the forward slash in the second url tag.
In answer to your question, the latter. Although I believe you can do the click, paste, click.

Click paste click works.
I hope that works. If it does I'll delete the mess.

Mess deleted. Everything works as it should Simon.

I've just tried to insert a link to Clearwell Caves' website. The clickable link had no effect and manually trying to insert html markers resulted in about six lines of script all underlines as a link (I wouldn't mind but it produced a '404 not found anyway !)

Here you go http://www.aditnow.co.uk/mines/Clearwell-Caves-Iron-Mine/ . Tell me when you've finished and I'll tidy it up again.

Thanks :flowers

Odd one that, it had added the opening URL tag and another opening URL tag at the end instead of the closing tag with the / hence the the link wasn't being closed properly.

It looks likes I'll have to have a look at Firefox compatibility with these tools 😞

Thanks for making the link clickable Simon. In theory Firefox,Opera and now Chrome (don't know about Safari) are standards compliant. It's I.E. that has been known to play fast and loose with standards. But isn't that what started this off in the first place ?
