here on the chase coalfield it was said that you could travel underground from great wyrley via wyrley 3,s-leacroft-mid cannock-littleton-west cannock 5,s-valley-cannock wood-brereton to rugeley a distance of about 10 miles as the crow flies
west cannocks furthest workings were out towards wolesley bridge on the river trent
in the notts coalfield a lot of working and abandoned pits were coupled to pump water to the trent.i remember an article about this in the coal news in the mid to late 80,s
the question is what was the furthest you could travel underground in man made workings and how far is or was it?
