I've not been up to Nent for a few months now and have gone cold turkey. Trying to make a long weekend of 7/8/9th Nov. Would anyone be up for a Caplecleugh Trip on the 7th (Friday)?

I could be up for a Caplecleugh to Smallcleugh through trip on the Friday if I can get the day booked off work...
I'll investigate the holiday situation and let you know if you fancy that...

I will probably be up this weekend, but not the one after.
If I can make it, I will be there Friday morning and at High Plains as usual.

Good, a through trip could be accommodated and would tie in. I was wanting to have a look at the CC North Vein, never been and its a bit remote.

Has anyone done the through trip in the last few months, as I know a section of ladder came detached over the summer, so the rest of it could be iffy. However nothing stopping going the other way with rope.

About halfway down the ladders into Caplecleugh one short section of ladder (c6foot or so) has come away and now lies sideways on on a ledge - meaning there is about a six foot "gap" in the ladder climb...
Its freeclimbable (I was there in October) or it could either be done top to bottom with a rope
The rest of the ladders seem in good nick!

I wouldn't mind a look up the north vein for some pics, I've not been in Capelcleugh since I got a decent camera and Friday is fine for me.

Look forward to seeing the pics. Disappointed I can't make it, the Capelclough to Smallcleugh was one of the best trips I've been on and high on the list of ones to do again.
my orders are to sit here and watch the world go by

I did a Caplecleugh trip yesterday.
The rise that you ascend to the North Flats is the Vieille Montagne No 9 rise shown on Percy Blights extraction plan. There are two ladders detached near the top, but held in place with blue polypropelene rope I put in about 1989. I did some other work then, my bow saw is still at the top of the rise.
I managed to ascend OK, I dont think the ladders will fall. Its a narrow rise you can wedge yourself in, and also hang onto the air pipes.
It will be next Easter before I am up again but will return and secure the laders properly, if no-one else does it first.

If you take long cows tails you should be OK, but please dont make the ladders any worse.
