I did a Caplecleugh trip yesterday.
The rise that you ascend to the North Flats is the Vieille Montagne No 9 rise shown on Percy Blights extraction plan. There are two ladders detached near the top, but held in place with blue polypropelene rope I put in about 1989. I did some other work then, my bow saw is still at the top of the rise.
I managed to ascend OK, I dont think the ladders will fall. Its a narrow rise you can wedge yourself in, and also hang onto the air pipes.
It will be next Easter before I am up again but will return and secure the laders properly, if no-one else does it first.
If you take long cows tails you should be OK, but please dont make the ladders any worse.
