have just discovered that my paternal grandmother lived in Chopwell , Havelock Terrace. I know absolutely nothing about this area, unfortunately. My interest is researching my ancestors. I would like to know if there are records of the people who worked down the mines, and how I can find out exactly which mines they would have been in. I have the names of 2 of my uncles who would have worked the mines Albert and Alexander Jackson and they were there in the years before and after the 1WW. Can anyone point me in the right direction please, I would be very grateful for any help.
