The book takes us on a journey along the course of this mineral railway, serving the great copper mines of Gwennap, as well as Wheal Buller and the Basset Mines plus the river port of Devoran. It was Horse drawn from 1827 with crude steam locos from 1854. Traffic was coal and timber in and copper and tin out, the railway closed in 1915 when the mines it was serving closed down.. The line’s history was written up by D B Barton in a small book last published in 1983. this is a photographic journey up and down the line with old photos of the line and new ones of what remains , using the author’s collection of old and current photographs plus his own watercolours. There are also track plans and pictures of what survives.
