Last minute bookings are still possible, but the booking process behind the website went a bit flaky recently so if you have trouble then get in touch with the admin and arrange things over the phone or by email.

Off early tomorrow and a quick heads up for anyone going who hasn't met me (You may not have missed much)
Look for blue Skoda RS, big tent, bigger mouth, shorts and a black T, eczema all over top of my head.

Love to go to NAHMO 2017 but it is one hell of a distance for me, having to get past both Birmingham and London. Also there are the photography and video restrictions in the mines on this trip. Hoping that NAHMO 2018 will be a bit closer to home for me.

From the website

Photography

For most trips, photography is permitted underground for private purposes only.

Above ground there are more complex issues relating to privacy. From a practical viewpoint, the main concerns relate to photographs that identify locations of entrances, or access or security arrangements. To avoid complexity we have found it necessary to prohibit above ground photography on most trips, except where otherwise stated in the trip notes below.

Someone needs to define what they view "private" as. Can you put it up on AN or FB? Just on your own PC? Can you show your uncle Harry? Do you have to interpret the shot via charcoal sketch before publishing?

I'm obstinate, aside from the no-brainer that you don't slap up public pictures of adit's etc, then I'd tell them go go forth and fornicate if they think they can tell me what to do with my pictures, taken on a perfectly legitimate trip.
Searching for the ever elusive Underground Titty Bar.

They don't want stuff on social media including this website, the rest is common sense. They have gone to the trouble of getting landowners permissions who have no doubt indicated their wishes and concerns, so I have no problem with it.

I'll leave if for others to judge how the weekend has gone, but I would like to say thank you to all the other WCMS members who put in so much effort for the combined conference and 50th birthday bash. All I did was sit in a village hall listening to lectures - a cushy number by comparison.

I thoroughly enjoyed it. It seemed well organised, the trips were competently led, the food was good and the beer didn't give me a hangover no matter how much I drank. It was keenly priced too!
And the usual motley collection of animated facial hair was there to indulge in social intercourse with.

Thanks to all involved.
