It was mentioned on another thread by Dillbilly that the Williams family of Scorrier had samples taken from Pentire Glaze mine by two men using a hammock. This would have been a journey of over thirty miles.
But it was not the Williams' it was the Beauchamps of Trevince in the parish of Gwennap that had this done for their own collection. This would have been about 1857
