A new event has been added to the Events page.

Event name: Williamson Tunnels - Liverpool

Date and time: 26/02/2017 / 10.00 till 14.00

Details: There are two options for people; one is a tour around the Paddington site, or if you wish to pay a 5 pound donation to become a member of the group, you can visit the house site where digging is currently ongoing, as that is reserved for members.

(Highgate Street, Edgehill, Liverpool, L7 1PE)

There is limited parking onsite, otherwise, park where possible in the surrounding streets.

Yes shouldn't be a problem mate.

The small car park shown is usually the best place to park (the whole area is residents permit holders really).

Also some limited parking at the house site for members.

The roads are all narrow so take care if parking on them.

It would be good to get an idea of numbers beforehand as there isn't a lot of space where the digging is currently taking place (it's not such a problem at Paddington).

I'd also suggest gloves be taken if going to the house site as the ladders will be dirty.

I am in touch with people from williamson tunnels, they tell me numbers aren't an issue as they will be splitting people into managable groups.

Provisional for me too - a couple of years ago I was working not far away but never managed to visit.

Just need to see if I can shift a few things around.

Hi guys n gals.

Been a mine explorer and member on here a while but this is my first post. I'm a volunteer, tour guide and dirty digger for the FoWT at both Paddington and Mason Street. Also good friends with Mr Blober & Co enjoying many a Thursday nighter with said chaps and chap-ess's.

No problem.

Alls you need is bonce protection, can provide but you can bring your own. Both sites are well lit but there's no harm bringing a torch/cap lamp for the details, photography also not a problem may even be able to get the lights turned off for anyone who fancies a bit of light painting.

Look forward to seeing y'all

Just joined myself for the extra bits, have been here once before and I believe since then they have opened up a lot more of the tunnels.

So whats the score with the two trips exactly ?
Is it a choice of one or the other ?

I've never been at all, so if I can only do one it will be the Paddington site.

I believe we should be able to do both, blacksnake will come along soon and confirm i'm sure. Likely have to be smaller groups at the one site as there is digging on going.

I've just done the public tour. Fantastic, and a hell of a lot more has been excavated in the 5 or 10 years since I was last there.

I visited both Paddington and Williamson's house in Mason Street one morning last summer. Neither trip is very long, though more has been excavated at Mason Street since I was there, and I would have thought that timewise there should be no problem with AN visiting both.

Note that the public tour mentioned by crickleymal is operated by a different group and visits a different area.

I really should do this since im only down the road but cant make this Sunday!! :curse:
Have fun, o and if you drive through the Mersey Tunnel watch your speed as you get out onto the main road as they often have a very sneaky mobile camera catching people out as you come around the bend!

Disclaimer: Mine exploring can be quite dangerous, but then again it can be alright, it all depends on the weather. Please read the proper disclaimer.
