Friends of the North Pennines AONB are restarting the Dukesfield Smelting Mill Dig. Digging days are Wednesday 3rd to Monday 8th July. This is a project to excavate the bases of four chimneys which are at the end of the supposed short flue from Dukesfield Smelting Mill. We welcome volunteers - no previous experience required. Tools will be provided. All we ask is that you tell us in an advance of days that you would like to come to the Dig. Our maximum number of volunteers is 10 per day. Please email Pete jackson on
