Actually they'd love the inventiveness and the reuse of old materials. They only act posh if there's a camera about (though I think they've got bored of carrying the hats and parasols just in case :lol: ).

If you want to have a go at making a glass for it try gentle heating a jam jar with water in, full close to the top. When it boils tip the water out and run cold in fairly fast from the tap, make sure it hits the center of the bottom. With a nice pop sound you should now have a glass tube. you might want to grind the sharp edges off after. Stating the obvious now, there is a good chance of ending up with a load of glass shrapnel so be careful.

Been busy "repairing" suitable clothes, might consider armouring my cloth cap if I can find it.

Aha...

Veggies eat lots of carrots.

Carrots help you see in the dark.

Therefore veggies can see in the dark.

So... veggies will not need lamps as they can see in the dark :thumbsup:

Not wishing to give too much away either (Rockchick would beat me up if I did ;)) but it might be worth bringing a tin mug and plate with you on Sunday.

Just a quick note on tomorrow's trip.

Meeting up at 10.30 at the usual carpark below Cwmorthin. Intending to be up at the mine by 11.00.

A leisurely start to a fairly gentle day :)

Don't forget to bring your lamp...

Bringing a tin mug and plate might be a good idea as well 😉 Rockchick is providing lunch.

Look forward. When my grandfather was a miner at Foty he wore a starched bowler hat to protect his head.

Looks good. I've been scouring for a bowler hat but couldn't find anything so have reverted to a flat cap. I think with a bit of imagination and bad lighting it'll all work 🙂

I'm sorry but I can't come. Last night's festivities took a fair toll on me so I haven't made it back to Porthmadog. Shame as I've managed to sort out about everything ready...oh well next year then if we're up to it.
