Seeing as we often do a trip around New Year, there's no reason why 2011 should be any different! 🙂

It's almost certainly going to be North Wales, but where do people want to go / what do they want to do?

Options seem to be:

(i) a gentle walk round somewhere, suitable for a big-ish group
(ii) something a bit more strenuous but still comparatively easy, for example Moel Fferna
(iii) an SRT trip, possibly a variant of the long-haul Cwmorthin - including at least one big abseil and probably a look at some of the more less-frequently visited parts
(iv) any other suggestions

Any thoughts, folks? 🙂

Getting my excuses in early: due to an impending nephew/niece pretty much exactly that time, there's a decent chance I won't make it to this trip 😞

is there anywhere that offers a few options together, so folks that are still recovering from hangovers  can take a slightly more gentle option, and the rest of us go for an epic trip?!

I like the idea of the Cwmorthin SRT trip. But maybe if lots of people we could have two groups (SRT/non SRT)? And meet up and eat left over Christmas cake (if any 🙂

can we combine that with the 'timbered tunnel of death'? simon was saying the other day how much he'd like to work out a through-trip through it!!

I guess it would be more desirable as a through trip, as the thoughts of having to come back..... 😮

Unless there are any howls of protest I'm going to shuffle this trip back a bit...

A few people said they'd be interested in doing a variation of the incandescent trip but with lanterns. Just a gentle wander.

The big round trip / long haul, whatever you want to call it might need a bit of pre-rigging (would want to start it with the big descent off lake level) and I don't think I'll get that done between coming back from Nent and the 2nd Jan... Especially as Vanoord has said he probably won't make the date he's suggested himself 😉
my orders are to sit here and watch the world go by

Down a slab, about 120' iirc.

Quite a nice abseil if I remember!

This can be arranged!

There may be a bit more rigging required before a trip, it's something that we need to work out before we finally work out which trip will be when!

was in cwm yesterday with a group looking for areas not on maps ,we found a few bits . i have an idea for trip in cwm which i might try to put together i will call it the 3 incline trip ,back vein ,old vein and the 34 incline .what does that sound like for a good look round cwm.. 😉

Hopefuly not in that order thought!

You can do several variations on a round trip in there - down one vein, up the other but with a bit if variety thrown in for good measure, including the link from down the Ch.34 incline and then back up to DE via the little manway.

i know cwm has been done many times ,but there is loads to see .you could even go a bit further in there than usual now that would be a great trip..
