A new event has been added to the Events page.

Event name: Parys Mountain Trip, May 08

Date & time: 10/05/2008 at 10:00

Details: Parys Underground Group (PUG) have kindly offered to take AditNow members on a guided tour of this fascinating Anglesey copper mine which dates back to the Bronze Age.

Access to Parys is only through the PUG, and they are happy to arrange trips for interested parties.

Two trips would be offered on the same day, each starting with a brief surface tour, followed by a good number of hours underground.

Trip A: involves ladders, some wading (knee high at most) a lot of orange gunge and a lot of bending double

Trip B: involves all of the above plus a brief section of neck deep water :)

Some of us did these trips last year on the Dark Places Big Bash and everybody had a fantastic time. Definitely a highly recommended day out.

No fixed routes yet, totally happy to take guidance from you and Olly. Would like to do two trips though, the same damp trip / wet trip idea as the wet trips don't appeal to all. For some strange reason!

Put me down for the wet one please.

Please provisionally put me down.

Will the wet trip involve a wetsuit or if I'm happy to get soaked will normal gear suffice?

If no wetsuit required, wet trip, if wetsuit required I'll take the knee deep.

Cheers

Hi Viewer

I used a wet suit for the wet trip, I guess you could do it without, but you'd get a bit cold afterwards

There's no need to decide until the day, or very close to, so if you put yourself down you can decide later on :)

Cheers,
Simon

Please, may I consider meeting up with you?
I'll certainly not be going underground but I'd like to have a look around the surface and take photographs.
Gwyn.

He's been away, he's got back, he's been underground and will no doubt surface soon :)

Are you going to come along to Parys LAP?

Funnily enough, I got in touch with them about a month ago to ask if a trip might be possible. Haven't heard back yet. Will post on here as soon as I hear anything.

The given NGR, SH304910, gets me to a field near Carmel Head! Surely, Parys meeting point is circa. SH433903?

Thanks Gwyn, NGR corrected for Parys Mountain now.

The actual meeting point will be a bit further up the road back towards Amlwch, there's an obvious dirt car park on the other side of the road.

Is the trip still on for next Sat? I have not got the bca insurance so am willing to pay my £10. Do I pay cash on the day or send anyone a cheque etc.

Trip still on

Is everybody down for the trip still coming?

Any more takers? With the option of the damp or wet trip there's room for more people yet.

If the weather holds it'll be a lovely day for a look at the surface as well. I will keep an eye on the weather forecast for the area and update this thread tomorrow.

Does everybody who is coming along know where to meet?
