If someone can come up with a convincing interpretation of these marks it will be the fourth example for me of how something clarified in one region can explain something similar elsewhere. It was the revelation to me of the Swanage quarr cart design that allowed the identification of remains of something very similar in the Merstham quarries, and the stone candle/tinder box from the Whittington quarries that identified a similar item in Chaldon, and the identification of ritual protection marks in Goatchurch Cavern that resulted in the discovery of similar marks in Chaldon.
