I've made a couple of trips over to Betws-y-Coed to have a good look at the buildings and the striation marks left by the Hunter saw. Some of the resulting photographs are in my personal album. Please have a look.

What struck me earlier, while looking at some examples, is how "perfect" Davel's sample is. I have not found any example that comes near to looking like it and on this basis I tend to think it is not from a Hunter saw.
Further, where there is one waste sample found, I would expect to find more, in that saw waste would have been thrown into a waste truck for bulk tipping. Of course, sawn off-cuts, if big enough, could be a valuable secondary product and I would expect to find them in vernacular building work of the area. If a Hunter saw was used on site I would expect to find some of the primary product having been used in some of the more prestigious local buildings. It might be worth having a close look at such buildings, in and around Corris, to see if stone similar to the given sample can be found.

Some interesting pics. I suppose the corrugations on the surface are due to one (or more) irregularly set blade teeth or a mis-aligned blade segment?
Only guessing they may be segments fitted to a disc?

Disclaimer: Mine exploring can be quite dangerous, but then again it can be alright, it all depends on the weather. Please read the proper disclaimer.
