I've just taken delivery of a Sigma 10-20mm - good lord is it a wide angle and I am amazed by the lack of distortion at 10mm - although if you do get too close to something, it does some weird stuff.

I'll try and get some relevant pics at the weekend 🙂

Mine's done me very well, no complaints. And it's been regularly dipped in dirt and crap. In fact it's permanently filthy.

My 20mm Canon lens has arrived, and a 2nd hand EOS body, (which is currently off having the sensor cleaned :() itching to get out and use it underground. Only pity was there was absolutely no way I could afford the L series lens which has better weather sealing than the standard lenses.

Body arrives back from cleaning (camera body Vanoord *sigh*) tomorrow. Hopefully might get the chance to test the new lens underground this weekend 🙂

should be nice.
I am a bit more sold on the idea of getting L lenses as they are usually environmentally sealed.
I spent a nervous couple hours dismantling a 50mm prime to get sand out of the inner bits the other night!

I entirely agree, but have you seen the price of the 20mm L series 😮

Mind you the weather sealing only really applies if both the body and lens are, if either aren't then there is scope to get moisture and dirt into the camera.

Good to hear nice things about the Sigma 10-20. I am getting some money soon and am after buying one of these for underground photography. Would be interested to know how they perform in low light. 🙂

Disclaimer: Mine exploring can be quite dangerous, but then again it can be alright, it all depends on the weather. Please read the proper disclaimer.
