Who is using a rechargable?
What burn time are you getting on a charge?

Just wondering, comparing my 8 cell version.

Hi Barney,
I use rechargeable cells in mine and while I have never done a soak test, on the odd occasion that I have used non-rechargeable cells, it does seem to last a bit longer. Nothing scientific I'm afraid, just an impression. I think this is normal though, rechargeables never seem to have the same capacity as non - rechargeable in any application.

Any light cannon types got their cannon to hand?*

I'm not at home at the moment so I've not, but if anybody has, is there a part number on the bulb? I'm trying to research something somebody suggested to me about an alternative source for spare bulbs - probably come to nothing, but worth a shot.

* Yes, I know...

Well, strangely i do have mine to hand. Without trying to remove the bulb totally, (i tend to break things) It says on the casing ' 10v 6kv 3sek.'

Probably no use whatsoever!

Thanks, it's a start in trying to track the bulb down. And don't break it! You know what they cost to replace?

If you want to break it, lend it to Vanoord :)

Do we have any electronic whizz kids in the building?

My thoughts....

Light cannon works on 12v. so, is it possible to run it off 2 6v rechargable batteries taken from 55w halogen spotlights?

Yes it will be heavy and a lot of work, but i have come up with a useful setup and hopefully keep the waterproofing intact.

Hmmm, interesting idea, you'd never ever need to switch it off! I'll ask the same chap who told me about the bulb manufacturer what his thoughts are...

In theory, no problem. 2x 6V in series i.e. +to- = 12V

The only issue I wanted to double check was that it's actually designed to run at 10V (8x1.2 rather than 8x1.5)

At least I think that's the case.

Sounds plausable.
A crude solution would be a few diodes in series (beefy enough to take the current) each diode will drop 0.7V so 3 should do it.

Although they are brilliant, i reckon the pressure is on for underwater kinetics to match the 'Heb monster' light. Looking at my recent pics, even the fenix is not far behind the cannon!
Captain Scarlet

Yeah.... I am thinking of getting another Fenix and using two for photos, one for direct & one for indirect lighting. At the moment my personal preference is for the colder light of the L.E.D. rather than the Light Cannons warmer light. I am currently toying with a diffuser for the Fenix. Apart from Barney's excellent 'Grease Proof Paper' I am struggling to find anything suitable. A Stenlight diffuser I had lying around works wonderfully well, but holding it in place is the problem. Anyway.. all pie in the sky until Mr Camera Fixer returns my little baby..

Ah, Fenix diffuser. I've got one of those. It turned up FOC in the last Fenix order (the new Cree Q5 versions). Strange looking thing. Sort of white cylinder tapering tapering to a point...
