I was asked what Caving helmet would I suggest - I'm out of touch on the latest gear what would you suggest?

Locate a New Old Stock Caving Supplies one.

They are hard to find, but do come up. I'd avoid the lego things. You don't want to be hitting everything, or looking like a *****.

Check out this recent thread.

I would recommend a new Edelrid ultralight (which is what I use) - more or less identical to the late lamented CS Protex which Stuey is recommending.

As a style conscious sort of chap (as most mine explorers are) I was particularly pleased to find that the Ultralight is available in black which compliments a milled aly fashion lamp very nicely.

I followed your recommendation on that thread and got myself an as-new Ultralight in black off eBay for sixteen quid (none left at that price!) and it is miles more comfortable than the Petzl Vertex Best that I disliked so much.
So thanks Tamarmole!

No worries - Mine was an ebay as new, although I think I paid around £20 for it; a bargain nonetheless

Might have been the same seller - clearing a load of them after use on a photo shoot. I can only speculate on the theme!:-[

Sounds like the same seller.
