I have seen a tiny fraction of the UK's mines, despite being exploring for 8 years now, but recently I've thought more about doing foreign visits. The catacombes of Paris and coal mines of Belgium are the ones many seem to go for, but after I've been to Sweden looking at mines this summer I hope, I have some ideas about other places.

So, as a huge county, and with having heard many times rumours of enormous mines in Russia, coal mines on the Yamal, Iron workings in Siberia, many, many others. Next year, if I learn better Russian, I might be temped to consider this, as it seems that no mine exploring done in Russia has really come to our attention much, apart from those recent salt mine pics and a couple of other galleries.

Any pointers would be appreciated. Also I'm not sure where mine exploring stands in Russian law, some countries don't like it...

Keep an eye on the english russia website (wont post the link as people complained that it gave them a virus last time ::) )

Mines regularly appear on there and my favorite one was the outhouse over the ladder shaft (A real shitty entrance I'm sure  )

Not sure how Russia is on visiting derelict sites, I don't think they are massively bothered. You can ask Russian train drivers to ride on their open wagons and they don't seem to mind. Just don't tell anyone its not 1984 anymore.
FILTH - Think this is a playground? Think again...

Disclaimer: Mine exploring can be quite dangerous, but then again it can be alright, it all depends on the weather. Please read the proper disclaimer.
