Mine Managers House built c 1925
Between 1937 and 1945, H Foster-Smith, electrical manager, and family lived there. It was called La Patera. Around 1943 the mine manager Mr Sime (who lived in another house called the mine mangers house!) was taken ill and HFS became the mine manager. Originally a UK company with shares quoted in London it was sold to the USA in return for help during World War 2, and most of the UK staff left to return to the UK.
