Shocked ... I felt sure that this was it ... maybe!

Answer - nothing! No train, no tunnel...

There *were* clues!

1 - Original GPR and geophysics images...hilarious! Details of tank barrels, hatches etc, etc.. Anyone that knows ground radar and the likes, can tell you that picking up such details, inside of a *tunnel*? No chance!

2 - LIDAR - no evidence of earthworks, backfilling of tunnel entrances...nothing

3 - Academic and *actual* geophysical experts investigations, conclusion: 'there's nothing there'

4 - Despite apparently knowing *exact* entry points, having plotted the full course of tunnel through their survey works etc...they dig in 3-4 different places!

Fair play for having managed to get gullible souls to fund all the moving around of dirt though!

Have you ever seen any of those Forbidden History programs with Jamie Theakston. Usually good for a laugh although I wish they would question the beliefs and "proofs" a bit more rigorously. There was one guy trying to prove that King Arthur was based in the Welsh Marches (which might be a possibility). Extremely dodgy linguistic "proofs". Then he showed a ground penetrating radar picture of a hillock. The feature he said could be King Arthur's grave was 1 pixel across and 2 long.

One should remember that whilst John Reith placed a great emphasis on 'inform and educate' since his demise the BBC has made great strides in moving the emphasis to 'entertainment'. Having watched this programme I know which catagory I would put it in.

Must be a different tunnel that has the strategic steam reserve in it then!
