Carbon emissions created by wind power - manufacture of machine, concrete bases, transport and erection - anybody ever worked it out?
yes! its called embodied energy
the energy need to mine the bauxite, transport to smelter, to smelt the aluminium to transport it around the world, remelt, cast and work, quarry the limestone and burn it for cement and so on
forecast lifespan of a turbine 25 years
average embodied energy payback 18-20 years - put another way how long it takes till a wind turbine becomes carbon neutral
then add in the woeful efficiency of the things and it becomes laughable how much power they contribute for the remainder of their lifetime - well it would be laughable if it weren't for the select few companies, organisations and individuals that have gotten very rich on the back of the things
