Need information. We are researching our great great grandfather Robert Campbell who at age 12 was working at the Carnbroe Ironworks in the parish of Bothwell in the county of Lanarkshire. This was shown in an 1851 Census.

We discovered that he was one of a number of Scot Ironworkers that Sir Robert Alexander enlisted to travel to Kentucky, America to work on a new furnace, which was called Airdrie.

Would like to find out more information about this particular Ironworks mine and also information regarding living conditions in this area. Or even pictures if you are willing to share.

Thank you -
J Campbell 🙂

A search under the name produced a nice vid.
