It is marked on the Adit now map (I don’t know how to extract the grid ref though)

It’s North and west of the peak of Carnedd Llewelyn by, around, 1 km north and 1 km west. There are two lakes there – Dulyn Reservoir (which has a WW” propeller blade sticking up out of it) and another rlake, Melynllyn.

The mine entrance is South west of Melynllyn by, about, 200m west and 100m south

SH 705 654 – I think

Ian

A door, once opened, may be stepped through in either direction.

It wasn't a slate quarry as such, but produced hone stones. Wyn's photos in the Melynllyn album says it all really. There isn't an inside as such- it's little more than an open cut on the hillside, with a couple of shallow openings. The mill is the most interesting part. When the working shut, the equipment was apparently moved to the Moel Siabod hone quarry and used there until the early 20th century. Having said all that, it's a fine walk up to the site.

Disclaimer: Mine exploring can be quite dangerous, but then again it can be alright, it all depends on the weather. Please read the proper disclaimer.
